The countless repetitions of footsteps and imprints forward is both a forceful planning and a seemingly logical construction. In this process of trial and error, similar to that of a biological organism, history is written in an inconsistent manner.

details

Wang Chengjing was born in Jinan, Shandong Province in 1993 and now lives in Chongqing. Graduated from Hunter College, City University of New York in 2017, majoring in Fine Art-oil painting and minoring in art history; In 2019, she graduated from San Francisco Art University with a master’s degree in 3D art. Her works include paintings, installations and 3D digital art.
Her artworks are the ruins of numerous act of “destruction-reconstruction” cycles. The act of creating the work is as significant as the final presenting of my work. The artist experienced several family changes, family bankruptcy and the continuous death of her family as she grow up, which made her deeply realize that nothing can remain in a single state forever. The artist questioned: “Whether it should be accepted because it is an unbreakable law of nature.” When faced with the powerful and immutable, only the individual coping mechanism is uniquely autonomous. The artist tries to transform the private narrative in her life into abstract language in order to restore the process of repetition and coverage of things. This paranoid repetition process is the repair of his inner trauma, and the repetition in his works is the remembrance of things that have to pass away, refusing to forget the absurd and useless resistance like Don Quixote.
