Markus (Warlike) is a Sonic Art Installation that rewrites the expectations and satisfaction within the reality of home. Markus (Warlike) is a 1:10 scale model that represents a Domestic desire presented in a miniature gallery space.
The work encourages viewers to build their own narrative, giving back a portion of control and satisfaction to the upheaval of daily virtual living.
Sonically the work characterizes the Warlike nature of an individual, this is done through musical composition. The composition represents the lifestyle that provides sanctuary within reality. Exploring the themes of Virtual noise, chatting and Silence.
Markus (Warlike) depicts a version of human existence where though sonically we may be in a Warlike reality, we can rewrite and control the narrative within the model world, one that is stable, and one that your very hands could create.
COVID19 has created a domestic sonic environment that has both the capability to overwhelm whilst being silent. Being Alone in an invisible war but virtually together has created the need for a space in reality that each of us can control.
Markus (Warlike) goes some way to give each of us satisfaction by representing the desires of domesticity and war, silence and overwhelming noise, being enveloped whilst shutting down. Acknowledging the reality of a daily life cycle whilst providing a place of sanctuary. Markus (Warlike) is meditative with the conclusion that we can rewrite our lifestyle expectations of human experience in the place we find sanctuary.
Rebekah’s primary creative and academic outputs concern the investigation of Domesticity within Sonic Installation Art and music. Her work focuses upon how the Repatriation of Domesticity within Sonic Installation Art and the role of Installed Musical Composition to facilitate engagement with the Space, Sculpture and Composition. Domesticity, articulated as Poise and Void by virtue of music. Rebekah is studying for a PhD in Sonic Installation Art.
