Winning a prestigious award after graduating from the Academia de Belle Arte in Milan, Sebastiano Navarra spent the following decade as a Creative Director in the Advertising world. He pursued a creative investigation that gravitated towards the concept of ‘’The Beauty of Allure’’ that combines Art-Creativity and Marketing. He was part of a group of national/international architects/painters/sculptors that focused on artist-investigation. Sebastiano has initialized another fertile period of art, which ultimately flowed into the creative expression that exists in his present work. It is greatly influenced by his own Italian culture, but he recognizes and loves all the phases in art history.

A LOCKDOWN where objects become central players in a deserted city. I would like my work to make people stop and ponder and to make them feel emotion in this harassed world we live in. It is to them that I dedicate my ART AND ARTWORKS MADE IN COVID 19 LOCKDOWN A HOMMAGE TO OUR CITY.

Independent & Image Art Space: What are the critical milestones in your art career?

Sebastiano Navarra:

MILESTONES:

Graduating from the famous Academia delle Belle Arti Di Brera in Milano, Italy with +the title ‘Maestro d’Arte’

Arriving in Colombia

*Winning a prestigious award to work with J.Walter Thompson in Colombia.

*Exhibiting in a sell-out show at the ‘National Museum’ in Bogota in an exhibition titled

‘THE DISAPPEARED CITIES’ ( based on the medieval city of Matera in Calabria ) which captured the essence of Pop Art.

Renaissance Pop — Puzzle Art*/*-

*Fascinated&inspired by my passion in studying Italian Art, particularly the ‘Great Masters’ of the Renaissance’

I created the series ‘RENAISSANCE POP’ PUZZLE ART

Philosophically related to Pop Art mixing classic academic techniques with

Comics — ModernGrahics — Streetart using the Past+Present+Future in an Ironic Game.

Always adding a touch of my style: a bird.. a dog.. objects from my series ‘Magical World’

For me, studying how to express these personalities — The Greats — in today’s world and make them

Pop-Culturally relevant so that they can continue to live with me and us in this life time is how I pay

Tribute to the heritage of Italian Culture.

Silent Cities

‘SILENT CITIES’ POST METAPHYSICAL ART homage to Giorgio de Chirico

The inventiveness of this series depicts the fantastical dreams that play out in my sleep and have become reality in this world of total lock-down worldwide.

Whereas our lifestyle before the pandemic was motion, velocity and dynamism it has quickly became the contrary

Trying to express a modern vision of our present moment but actualized by its historic Evolution the metaphysical world which is all motionless, static, without time, where spaces and things turn into stone in

ABSOLUTE SILENCE

This new series relating to the Metaphysical world with it’s mysterious empty ‘piazzas’ all-the-more current to us in our present state of world lock-down.

A lock-down where objects become central players in a ‘deserted city’

Metaphysical Art features eye-catching contrast and plays on shadows and light, adding to its whimsical aura tiny figures and objects.

Independent & Image Art Space: In front of the current pandemic, how do you think art can do for our world, community or family?

Sebastiano Navarra: ‘Art’ in this moment where loneliness surround us became an enormous support to discover a reflection of “BEAUTY’ to intensify our cultural knowledge, as a delight for our spirit, an enrichment of the mind important for Cultural development

Art has an important social function and is key for cultural growth and well-being, contributing to the psychological and spiritual health of all individuals

Art is understandable with your eyes, it is linked to aesthetics, not to theoretical trappings

We rediscovered the value of ‘HOME’ and surrounding ourselves with everything what makes us feel well and happy…..All what give us ‘EMOTION’ ..

THIS IS ‘ART….. ‘Emotion’ ‘Beauty’ ‘Esthetics’ ‘Culture’ Spiritual’ ‘Well Being’ ‘Social expression’

ART GIVES EMOTION

Independent & Image Art Space: In the new year of 2021, do you have any plan for your art creation?

Sebastiano Navarra: Art is the story of the facts and of tradition we live through, turning this into information and therefore becoming part of our culture

For this reason Art needs a vehicle and space so there is the possibility for it to be widely known, for the benefit of all.

I like to keep pursuing my creative investigation of the concepts ‘The beauty of Allure”

And ‘The evolution of Communication

More than ever I want to keep on working make up for lost time from the perspective of lost time within my Art.

I want to discover what is left for me to do..

I will always continuous with my research and try to bring the excellent known Italian Art Culture to our daily life but with an up to date expression.

I like them ‘the new generations’ to know and to see this excellences of the Art world.

and Like ‘the Greats’, I would like my work to make people stop and ponder, make them feel

EMOTION in this complicated world we live in.. it is for this I make my art and

It is to them that I dedicate my Art
